Sure’s Top Entertainment Picks for May
As spring moves into summer, Guernsey has suddenly become lush and green. Along with birdsong, the sound of lawnmowers fills the air, and the cliff tops are busy with runners and walkers taking advantage of the scenic trails.
And of course, this month, we are lucky to enjoy multiple public holidays.
Sure has taken a look at the entertainment calendar for the month of May and selected our top entertainment picks.
Food tours by the Liberation Group in association with Tours of Guernsey
7, 14, 21 and 28 May at 1pm and 6pm from the Town Church, St Peter Port
The Liberation Group in association with Tours of Guernsey is offering a brand new food tour.
The three-hour walking tour explores the beautiful town of St Peter Port while stopping off at four different Liberation Group eateries to sample local food and beverages.
Assemble at the entrance to the Town Church.
Price: £45 per person
Advance payment is required to secure a reservation.
Liberation Day Celebrations
On Thursday 9 May join thousands of islanders to celebrate our liberation from the German occupation.

The Circus Comes to Guernsey!
Europe’s largest touring show and Guernsey’s favourite circus, Gandeys returns for four days to the Track, Victoria Avenue, St Sampsons.
With an international cast of over 30 artistes, the show will be staged in a brand-new 1,000-seat Italian Big Top which is heated and equipped with the latest theatre-standard lighting and sound effects.
Featuring acts from Cuba, acrobat displays and motorbike racing in the Thunderdome, there is plenty of entertainment for all ages.

Alderney Performing Arts Festival
The annual Alderney Performing Arts Festival weekend will take place from 24 to 27 May.
This popular event has grown over the years and this year will host a diverse programme of concerts, shows, dances and workshops.
There will be entertainment for everyone from classical to jazz, folk to hip-hop.
Some events are ticketed while some activities are free at various locations around the island.
Investigating the distribution of hedgehogs in Guernsey
On Saturday 25 May, take the opportunity to learn more about hedgehogs and their habitats across the island.
The Societe Guernesiaise will host a talk presented by Charlotte Le Marquand at 11am at the Frossard Theatre, Candie Gardens.

Walking in the historical footsteps of Renoir and Victor Hugo
For lovers of the arts, this is a walk not to be missed on Saturday 26 May.
Walk in the footsteps of Renoir who enjoyed a month’s stay in Guernsey in the summer of 1883 and Victor Hugo’s visits to the bay and beach of Moulin Huet.
Starting point: Old Mill Triangle Bus Stop, St Martins, ending at Bella Luce Hotel
Time: 2pm – 4pm
