by Karen Rollins Nov 4, 2024
The 11th edition of the Guernsey Photography Festival (GPF) got under way on 4 October 2024 and will run until January 2025.
Featuring a carefully curated selection of exhibitions, talks, and workshops, this year’s GPF will include a showcase of work by renowned British documentary photographer Paul Reas, who is the festival’s guest of honour, highlighting 30 years of social change in the UK called ‘Fables of Faubus’.
The GPF culminates with a “spectacular” photo-symphony event on 18 January 2025 performed in collaboration with the Guernsey Symphony Orchestra at the St James Concert Hall.
This unique evening of music and art will see the works of 14 photographers and visual artists projected live behind the orchestra moving in synchronicity with a thoughtfully curated soundtrack.
In a press release, GPF founder and artistic director, Jean-Christophe Godet, added: “We are honoured that for each edition of the festival, a host of talented artists respond with so much enthusiasm and excitement to our invitation to take part. GPF’s strong artistic identity and vision for the cultural sector in Guernsey continues to attract major local and international organisations and individuals, and we are delighted to present such a creative and stimulating programme for 2024.”
The photographers taking part in GPF 2024/25 are Paul Reas, Jessica Bernard, Tami Aftab, Estelle Moseley, Tasmin Ferguson, Siân Davey, Anaïs Ondet, Carolle Bénitah, Isabelle Vaillant, Joan Alvado, Max Miechowski, Maël G. Lagadec, Wolfgang Zurborn, and Yulia Skogoreva.
