Guernsey’s International Dance Sport Championships 2024 on in December

Dazzling dancers from across the globe are expected to be in Guernsey from 6-8 December at the International Dance Sport Championships 2024 hosted by the British DanceSport Association.
Taking place at the Beau Sejour Leisure Centre over three days, this entertaining event invites dancers to “showcase their talents in various styles and categories, competing for top honours, and the admiration of dance enthusiasts.”
According to the official website, the weekend is set to be “filled with dynamic performances, fierce competition, and the joy of dance”. It adds: “Whether you’re a participant, a fan, or a curious onlooker, the Dance Sport Competition 2024 promises an unforgettable experience.”
Around 500 contestants are expected to display “artistry and athleticism” as they compete solo or with a partner in age groups ranging from under 12 to over 70. They will all perform several styles including the Foxtrot, Waltz, Tango, and Quickstep as well as some Latin dances such as the Samba, Paso Doble, Jive, and Rumba.
Season tickets for the entire weekend are £100 and can be bought online via EventBrite. You don’t want to miss this “celebration of Ballroom and Latin American dance like no other”!
