Mother's Day

Mother’s Day is a time to appreciate mums, stepmums, and other mother figures. Here are some fun ideas to consider doing with your mum this Mother’s Day to give her a day to remember.

Mother’s Day this year falls on Sunday 30 March.

  • Arts and crafts – make your mum a personalised gift, or better yet, make a gift together. You can both get creative and make memories in the process. Build something practical, decorate something cute, or paint something that needs a makeover.
  • Beach day – Sunday is always a great day for the beach. Spend time with mum relaxing on the sand and listening to the water. Do whatever water activities she enjoys.
  • Brunch – brunches can get expensive, so why not do your own? Whether it’s just you and your mum or your close friends and their mums, an intimate ‘pot luck’ brunch is a perfect way to appreciate and celebrate Mother’s Day.
  • Plant something – do a little gardening together. Plant a herb garden or some of her favourite flowers. She’ll appreciate the effort.
  • Care basket – collect a few of her favourite things and place it all in a care basket. Fill the basket with her preferred toiletries, makeup, perfume, wine, trinkets, or anything else you think she would like.
  • Breakfast in bed – a good old fashion breakfast in bed is a nice touch. Surprise her first thing in the morning with a full breakfast and don’t forget to do the washing up!
  • ‘The thing’ – you know ‘the thing’. The thing mum has been nagging you about for days, weeks, maybe months. Now would be a good time to do ‘the thing’ – maybe it’s washing her car, or cleaning the house; maybe it’s an errand or maybe she’s just been nagging you to take her for a drive. Whatever it is, she will be grateful for the thought you put into this by actually doing it!
  • Thank you note – write a list of everything that you are thankful for and love about her. All too often we take our mums for granted and forget to say thank you. Sit down with her and read the list aloud.

We are sure your mum will be thankful for whatever you decide to do with her this Mother’s Day. Make her feel special and take time out of your day to spend some quality time her because she deserves it!
