If you’re thinking about getting out of Guernsey for a quick winter break, but don’t know where to go, don’t worry!

In this holiday guide, we’re helping you figure out where you ought to jet off to next.

For a quick winter break, you can’t go wrong with any one of the following cities.

Seville, Spain

If you’re looking to find milder temperatures, the Andalusian city of Seville is a great place for a winter break. The temperatures typically hover between 16 and 20°C. It’s not the place to go for mulled wine and Christmas markets, but it’s full of great food and beautiful architecture.

Athens, Greece

The city’s summer throngs of tourists have gone, but there’s still plenty to do. Athens’ main sights, the Acropolis and the Pantheon are open throughout winter.  It’s also more pleasant to wander around this ancient city without the oppressive heat of the warmer months.

Ghent, Belgium

Ghent is only 30 minutes outside of Brussels. This university city stays buzzing with activity in winter. Wander the Christmas markets or indulge your inner foodie with fantastic restaurants and cafes where you can warm up after a day exploring in the cold. There’s a lot to see and do in Ghent and the city’s small size makes it perfect for a short trip.

Vienna, Austria

Vienna transforms into a snow-covered fairy-tale in the winter. The city will be buzzing with Christmas markets throughout the city. There are free outdoor opera broadcasts and holiday concerts and the city’s many landmarks are beautifully dusted in snow. You’ll appreciate the hearty Viennese cuisine and a slice of rich sacher torte when you come in from the cold.

Lisbon, Portugal

With mild winter temperatures not usually dipping below the teens, the Portuguese capital is a good choice for those seeking out warmth. Lisbon is full of great restaurants and nightlife, particularly in the Barrio Alto area.

Bath, England

Bath is a stunning town with its honey-hued Georgian-style buildings. Explore the famous Roman Baths for which the town is named before warming up with some mulled wine. This romantic little university town is perfect for a winter getaway for two, as long as you’re not on the hunt for warm temperatures!
